Accurate wall measurements are essential for a seamless wallpaper installation. Here's a step-by-step guide to measuring your walls for removable wallpaper:
1. Gather Your Tools
You'll need a measuring tape, level, pencil, and paper.
2. Measure Rectangular Walls
- Width: Measure the wall's width at both the top and bottom, as they may differ. Use the larger measurement for calculations.
- Height: Measure the height on both the left and right sides. Again, use the larger measurement.
3. Measure Slanted Walls
Identify the wall's highest and widest points, and measure both dimensions.
4. Measure Walls with Obstacles
Measure the full height and width of the wall, including windows and doors. This allows for precise cutting during installation.
5. Calculate Wallpaper Quantity
- Width: Divide the wall's width by the wallpaper panel width (e.g., 24 inches) to determine the number of panels needed. Always round up to the nearest whole number.
- Height: Round up the wall's height to the nearest standard panel height (e.g., 48, 96, 108, or 120 inches).
Example: For a wall 132 inches wide and 84 inches high:
- Width: 132 inches ÷ 24 inches/panel = 5.5 panels, rounded up to 6 panels.
- Height: 84 inches rounded up to 96 inches.
You'll need six panels, each 24 inches wide by 96 inches high.
6. Select the Appropriate Mural Size
If ordering a mural, round up your measurements to the nearest available size.
Example: For a wall 132 inches wide and 100 inches high, select a mural sized 144 inches wide by 108 inches high.
